Master intoxicated in Brunsbüttel
The "Komet III" was detained in the canal port of Brunsbüttel on June 15, 2014, at 10.30 p.m. The ship was underway from Antwerp to St. Petersburg. Officers of the water police Brunsbüttel, who were carrying out a routine survey after the ship entered the Great Lock of the Kiel Canal eastbound, found the master intoxicated with 1,26 per thousand during a breathalyzer test. The ship was only allowed to proceed once the man was sober. He had to pay a safety fine and was expecting a charge. On June 16 at 4 p.m. the unloaded vessel was allowed to continue its voyage.
