Engine failure off Fair Isle

On Feb 17, 2018, at noon the "Kristine Bonnevie", en route from Hanstholm with a crew of 22 on board, reported engine failure 17 nautical miles south of Orknøyane, in position 59 15 54N, 001 41 00W. A lubricant distributor was leaking. As the engine could not be repaired, the vessel was awaiting the patrol boat "Bergen" of the Norwegian Coastguard, ETA 5 a.m.. The unloaded vessel was drifting, since anchoring was not possible, due to the depth of water. The "Bergen" pulled the "Kristine Bonnevie" to Sletta off Haugesund where the lifeboat "Bergen Kreds" took over and pulled the vessel to a repair yard at Rubbestadneset on Bømlo, where it arrived on Feb 19 at noon.
