Medevac near Galveston

Thu Dec 07 09:16:32 CET 2017 Timsen

A US Coast Guard aircrew medevaced a 55-year-old crew member from the "NS Commander" near Galveston, Texas, in the early morning of Dec 6, 2017. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a request for assistance from the captain of the tanker reporting a crew member was suffering from chest pains. Due to concerns with high winds and seas, along with the duty flight surgeon recommendation of a medevac, watchstanders requested the launch of a helicopter aircrew. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Houston hoisted the crewman and transported him to the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston. He was reported to be in stable condition. Weather on scene was reported as winds 26 mph and 6-8-foot seas.
