Research Drilling off the Coast of Suriname

The Maritime Authority of Suriname has issued the following Notice to Mariners: "The drillship Maersk Developer will conduct exploration drilling of the Coast of Suriname from September 19th till December 3rd, 2020 at the drilling location 07° 21’.270 N – 055° 33’.247 W (WGS 84). For safety reasons vessels should keep a safe distance of 1000 (one thousand) meters from the drillship. The Offshore Support Vessels (OSV) that will assist during the operations are MV Bourbon Topaz, MV Gerard Tide, MV Felton Tide and MV National Energy Explorer. Please note: • Communication is through the VHF channels 16 and 77. • There is a SAFETY ZONE of 1000 (one thousand) meters from the drilling site. • Maersk Developer is not maneuverable and will display the relevant characters. All ships should take notice of the above mentioned."

Maersk Drilling wins new semi-sub contract and pair of jackup extensions

Maersk Drilling has been awarded a new contract by Shell for the semi-submersible Maersk Developer while also securing extensions for jackup pair Maersk Resolve and Maersk Resolute. Shell has contracted the 2009-built for the drilling and completion of three wells and the suspension of another well, located in block E of the East Coast Marine Area offshore Trinidad.

Maersk Drilling awarded $12m offshore Colombia contract by Repsol

Spanish energy giant Repsol’s Colombia division has awarded a drilling contract offshore the South American country to Maersk Drilling. The Maersk Developer semisubmersible will be deployed to drill the Siluro-1 exploration well in shallow water (90 metres depth) in block RC-11 off Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Copenhagen-based rig operator Maersk Drilling, a subsidiary of the Danish conglomerate AP Moller Maersk, estimates the single-well job will last 42 days. The contracted fee is $12m, which includes mobilization and demobilization.
