Ferry suffered engine failure in Prinos
On the evening of June 23, 2025, the Port Authority of Thassos was informed by the Captain of the 'Nkiitis' about a failure of the starboard side main engine after its arrival at the port of Prinos, en route from the port of Kavala. The 75 passengers were safely disembarked from the ship and the 14 vehicles were unloaded. The 1st Port Department of Thassos of the Central Port Authority of Kavala prohibited the departure of the ferry until a certificate of seaworthiness was presented by the monitoring classification society. 46 passengers and 11 vehicles were waiting to board at the port. The passengers were forwarded to their destination with the care of the ship-owning company.
Main engine trouble off Prinos
On the morning of June 8, the Port Authority of Prinos Thassos was informed about a mechanical damage to the port and starboard side main engine of the 'Nikitis' during the scheduled route from the port of Kavala to the port of Prinos, with 53 passengers on board. The ship sailed under its own power to the port of Prinos, where the passengers disembarked safely. The Port Authority of Prinos prohibited the sailing of the ferry until the damage was repaired and a certificate of class maintenance presented by the monitoring classification society.
Allision in Kavala
On June 1, 2024, at noon, the Central Port Authority of Kavala was informed that the 'Nikitis' allided with the wharf, causing abrasions above the waterline on the starboard bow side of the ship, while performing a scheduled route from the port of Prinos in Thassos to the port of Kavala, with 30 passengers and two vehicles on board. No injuries were reported from the incident and no marine pollution was observed. The Port Authority of Kavala banned the ship from sailing until a certificate of seaworthiness was presented by the monitoring classification society.
