Coast Guard and the "CSAV Rahue" on July 19, 2010, were assisting the f/v "Tany Rose" taking on water approximately 475 miles north of Kauai. Coast Guard watchstanders at the Joint Rescue Coordination Center here received a distress call at 6:30 a.m. from the captain of the "Tany Rose", who reported the engine room was taking on water. A Coast Guard aircrew from Air Station Barbers Point launched an HC-130 Hercules aircraft at 7:45 a.m. to establish communications and drop water pumps to the "Tany Rose". JRCC search and rescue coordinators immediately issued a radio broadcast asking for any AMVER vessels in the area to assist. The crew of the "CSAV Rahue" responded to the call at 7:30 a.m. and was to arrive on scene approximately 11:35 a.m. The aircrew will remain on scene until the ship arrives. The weather conditions were reported to be 15-knot winds and six to 10-foot seas.
