Nesbakk assisted fishing boat in distress

Tue Apr 08 10:24:34 CEST 2014 Timsen

The "Nesbakk" along with the lifeboat "Skomvær" and a Sea King helicopter assisted a fishing boat with four men on board which took in water on Apr 7, 2014, four nautical miles south of Rost in the Lofoten. The Rescue Coordination Centre of Northern Norway was alerted by Bodø Radio at 7.05 p.m. after the fishing boat took on water in the engine room. The "Nesbakk" which was in the area picked up the boat while the lifeboat was underway, and a Sea King helicopter was sent from Bodø. The operation was supported by calm wind and sea conditions in the area. The crew was able to stop the water intress. After the lifeboat arrived at 7:30 p.m., the situation was under control. The Sea King helicopter returned to Bodø, and also the "Nesbakk" was released with thanks for the effort.
