The 'Neptune Ethos', en route from Malaga, and Salvamento Marítimo have rescued eight North African men who were located on a boat 26 nautical miles from Benidorm on the night of July 1, 2024. Three of them were transferred to Valencia by helicopter, while the other five sailed with the vehicles carrier to its port of destination, Fos, with an ETA as of July 3. The SAR boat 'Guardamar Polimnia' has searched for hours, since last night, ten miles from Cabo de la Nao, in the Marina Alta, for three other people who were supposedly traveling on the boat according to the statements of those rescued, who stated that there were 11 people on board . However, at 2:25 p.m. they suspended the search after not finding any person, as confirmed by Maritime Rescue sources. At 7:41 p.m., the 'Neptune Ethos' had alerted Salvamento Marítimo of the presence of five people in the water wearing life jackets. The MRCC in Valencia instructed the ship to proceed to their rescue. In addition, the SAR helicopter Helimer 203 was mobilized as well as the 'Guardamar Polimnia' and the patrol boat 'Río Oja' of the Civil Guard. At 8:14 p.m., the 'Neptune Ethos' began the rescue of the shipwrecked people from the boat. The five North African men in apparently good health. For its part, the Helimer helicopter located three other men in the water and rescued them.
