Engine trouble off Skiathos

Sun Mar 29 15:20:24 CEST 2020 Timsen

The 'Neptun' with 13 crew members on board suffered an engine failure in the morning of March 28 off Skiathos enroute from Nemrut Bay to Thessaloniki with a cargo of 1,300 tons of potatoes. The dsabled ship was taken in tow by the tug 'Christos XXIX' and pulled to the anchorage of Thessaloniki. It dropped anchor in pos. 40° 36.00' N 022° 55.29' E at 3.35 p.m. The Thessaloniki Port Authority carried out an inspection carried out under the PARIS MOU and found serious deficiencies in Annex X to CO 2009/16 / EC. It pronounced a sailing ban and imposed administrative sanctions. The ship was taken in tow by the tugs ‘Vernicos Liberty‘ (IMO: 9417866 ) and ‚Christos XLIV‘ (IMO: 9251975) in the morning of March 30 towards the port of Thessaloniki.
