AHST Neftegaz-55 towed the hapless rig Kolskaya and went into trouble
AHST Neftegaz-55 was towing the hapless jack-up rig Kolskaya, which sank in Okhotsk sea on Dec 18 2011 (see http://www.odin.tc/news/read.asp?articleID=324). At 1230 Dec 18 master of the vessel reported water ingress in engine room. Water was leaking through the holes of ventilation caps, which were cut off by a tow line, and through propeller hub and then propeller shaft of starboard adjustable pitch propeller. Starboard engine had to be switched off because of water ingress in hydraulic tank of starboard pitch propeller. Vessel was called off the Search and Rescue operation, and directed to Korsakov port, Sakhalin, ETA 0700 Dec 20. Water ingress is under control, no danger to vessel and crew.
