Ship slammed into fish farms
On Feb 29, 2020, the 'Navaho' got out of control following a steering failure in Gulluk Bay nd struck the pools of fish farms. Three bream and one perch pool were shattered, and two million fish with a weight from 200 to 600 gramsescaped. The accident took place off Papaz Island one mile off the shore. The accident caused heavy losses to the dish farmers. The ship had arrived at Gulluk Bay on Feb 29, 2020, for loading and remained moored in pos. 37° 15.54' N 027° 34.91' E as of March 7. The ship had suffered minor structural damages at the bull plating. Fishing farm company's representatives have made an application to local authorities against to vessel. An incident investigation file has been placed by Harbour Master and Public Prosecutor. The vessel's departure permission was cancelled by both authorities until completion of legal investigations. After the vessel left the bay again, it arrived in Istanbul on March 22 at 9.30 p.m. Actually the ship was headed to Rostov-on-Don, ETA March 29.
Entangled ships cleared from each other
Divers on Feb 26 made further inspections in order to ascertain the present position of the entangled anchor chain of the "Navaho" to the propeller of the "Oxana V". Subsequently, further operations were made by the diver's team, and the anchor chain was released from the propeller. The "Navaho" shifted to a convenience place and dropped anchor again in pos. 40° 57.63' N 028° 54.37' E. A detailed damage survey and inspection were under progress. Cargo ships got entangled
On Feb 25, 2019, around 10 p.m. the "Navaho", while trying to anchor at Zeytinburu anchorage B near Istanbul in the Marmara Sea, got too close to the bulkcarrier "Oxsana V", and the anchor chain got entangled with its propeller which suffered a crack. The lifeboat "Kıyı Emniyeti 3", which was later released by the "Kıyı Emniyeti 4", and the tugs "Kurtarma 7" and "Mehmetçik" were deployed by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety to assist. In the morning of Feb 26 the distance between the ships was 40 meters in pos. 40° 57.94' N 028° 54.23' E.
