Blackout in Olbia

Thu Jun 20 11:56:07 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Eurocargo Napoli" had just left the Cocciani jetty of the industrial port of Olbia, bound to Livorno, when the engines failed and the ship suffered a total blackout on June 19, 2019, at 7.15 p.m. The Maritime Directorate of Olbia immediately ordered the intervention of a Coast Guard patrol boat and the tug "Scatenato" of the Compagnia Onorato. When the engines regained minimal functionality, the ship was pulled out of the channel and escorted to a safe anchorage off the port inn the Gulf of Olbia where it was detained until the inspections of the Maritime Directorate and Rina have been completed. Besides the crew one truck driver was on board. The response was coordinated by the Olbia maritime management. The ship berthed at the Terminal Darsene Toscana in Livorno on June 20. Engine failure off Tavolara

Wed Dec 05 09:49:26 CET 2018 Timsen

The "Eurocargo Napoli" suffered an engine failure near Tavolara island shortly after leaving Olbia bound for Cagliari on Dec 4 around noon. The ship reported the failure to the authorities and asked for anchorage off Golfo Aranci, north of Olbia. The permission was granted, and the crew managed to repair engine, but the Port Authority of Olbia nevertheless ordered the ferry to move to Golfo Aranci and sent two tugs, the pilots of Olbia and the mooring group of Golfo Aranci. The ship was towed to the south pier of Golfo Aranci at 11 p.m. The company's technicians started working to rectify the damage to the engines and then make the ship operational again. On Nov 5 it remained stationary in port. The ferry sailed from Cagliari on Dec 6.
