Fire in Hamburg
On March 10, 2020, at 10.40 a.m. a fire broke out aboard the ‘Yas’ at the Blohm and Voss shipyard in dock 16 in Hamburg. The fire department arrived with a large contingent. The new fire boat 'Branddirektor Westphal' was also mobilized. A total of around 60 emergency services were on site. The yard's own fire brigade had brought the fire already under control when they arrived. Around 150 meters of wiring harnesses in the bow area had caught fire during welding works. No injuries were reported. The ship had arrived at the yard on Dec 23, 2019 for overhaul works.
