Collision on Siak River

The KM 'Tanto Sehat' was in collision with a container barge towed by the tug 'Marco Polo 21' and bumped into a pier in the waters of the Siak River, Dusun Pertiwi, Tualang District, Siak Regency, on Feb 10, 2021, at around 1.30 p.m. in a narrow passage of the river. The ship hit the residents' latrines, fortunately there were no fatalities in the incident. Due to strong tide currents, the speed was slow and made manoevering complicated. The weather was good and visibility was good. Both the barge and the 'Tanto Sehat' were damaged, the latter suffered a breach at the port side bow above the water line.
