Media reported the detention of coaster in Georgia, while vessel actually is in Turkey
Georgian, Russian and Turkish media reported the detention of Turkish coaster Osman Hasretler in Poti on Jan 20, and arrest of her Master of Turkish nationality Resul Kara, for violation Georgian laws by entering Abkhazia waters, which are considered to be under Russian occupation but still Georgian, on Oct 14 2011. All media refer to Georgian Coast Guard authorities. Definitely somebody is mistaking. Vessel itself is now in Mersin Turkey, hardly the place to be detained by Georgian authorities. AIS history of vessel’s port calls shows no entry to any Abkhazia or Georgia ports in the period from the beginning of October last year up till now, vessel was nowhere close to prohibited waters.
