E.R. Albany rescues three sailors off Bermuda

Wed Nov 09 17:53:23 CET 2011 arnekiel

Croatian seafarer Alem Martinis from Matulji on Croatia’s east has saved three sailors from a sinking vessel in the Atlantic Ocean. As the commander of the German cargo ship E.R. Albany, Martinis, 43, received a call for help during a storm near Bermuda islands. Prior to the SOS call, E.R. Albany was not able to dock in the port because of strong winds and waves. The ship was on its way from Savannah, United States to Bermuda. The call for help came from an American sailing boat with three crew members, two Americans and one British woman. The storm hit them and there was nothing they could do but wait for help. Martinis and his crew came in time to get the sailors off the sinking vessel, daily 24 Sata writes. Martinis’ proud wife, Robertina Martinis said she received a mail from her husband, telling her the story. Alem Martinis is expected back in Croatia in four months
