Schulte-container ship left Odesa more than 1,5 years after being trapped

Wed Aug 16 11:00:13 CEST 2023 Timsen

The 'Joseph Schulte' has left the port of Odesa en route to Istanbul in the morning Aug 16, 2023, using what was described as a new temporary corridor for merchant ships to and from Ukraininan ports, which are blockaded by Russia. Ukraine last week announced a "humanitarian corridor" in the Black Sea to release cargo ships that have been trapped in its ports since Russia's invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022. Moscow has not indicated whether it would respect the shipping corridor, and shipping and insurance sources have expressed concerns about safety. The 'Joseph Schulte' had been in the port since Feb. 23, 2022, the day before Russia started the war.
