Containership grounded off Saigon Newport

The "Zim New York" ran aground on June 6, 2018, at 11.47 a.m. in the Vung Tau-Thi Vai Channel after veering off the fairway between the buoys 11 and 12 in pos. 10025'53 "N 107001'35 "E. The ship was en route to the Cai Mep International Container Terminal, Saigon Newport and got stuck in the entrance of the New Cai Mep-Thi Vai Port (TCTT) in the Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. The passing traffic was not affected. As the ship had un aground at low water, it could refloated in the early morning of June 7 with the rising tide and was moored at the outer anchorage of Vung Tau in pos. 0° 15.81' N 107° 3.54' E. The ship, which was deployed in the ZMP service, had arrived from Port Klang. The Vung Tau Port Authority launched an investigation.
