Houthis falsely claimed attack on MSC ship

Fri Sep 05 12:14:39 CEST 2025 Timsen

The Houthi terrorists claimed to have launched a successful attack on the 'MSC Aby', using “two drones and a winged missile,” although the vessel reached its port of destination, Jeddah, on Sep 2, 2025, at 7.42 a.m., after sailing from Port Said. The UKMTO, a provider of security alerts, had no reports related to the incident. The Houthi report included no date information for the alleged attack either. Until earlier this week, the ship’s route through the Suez Canal to Jeddah was entirely north of the northernmost reported Houthi attack. The 'MSC Aby' has no recent port calls in Israel, but called Ashdod in 2023. According to the Mica Center security center, attached to the French Navy, the information was false. No incident had been reported by the Swiss shipowner MSC. The 'MSC Aby' also did not deviate from its course.

The largest container ship ever to come to a New Zealand port berthed at Tauranga.

Tue Oct 04 11:27:55 CEST 2016 arnekiel

The Aotea Maersk arrived at lunchtime today, Oct. 4, 2016, will be loaded up with dairy products and sail for North Asia in the early hours of tomorrow morning. The ship weighs almost 92,000 tonnes and is almost 350m long. It can carry 9640 20-foot containers. Maersk New Zealand head Gerard Morrison said it was the start of a new service. "We will be getting this ship and 10 of her sisters every week from now into the future," he said. "There will be one every Tuesday from Tauranga up to Taiwan, China, Korea and Japan." Mr Morrison said dredging to deepen the harbour at Tauranga made this possible. The work was completed earlier this year.
