Barge suffered water ingress
In the afternoon of Oct 17, 2016, around 5 p.m. the "Mondial", 1850 ts (EU-No.: 02325440), suffered water ingress in the engine room while transiting the Dortmund-Ems-Canal short before arriving at the lock in Spelle-Venhaus. The unloaded ship was southbound and got disabled immediately off the lock. About 50 cbm water had cummulated inside the ship which developed slight list. The fire brigades from Spelle and Venhaus were on Scene with 35 men and six engines to stem the flooding and avoid a pollution of the canal. Other ships were able to pass.
