Barge aground on the Mosel
In the evening of Apr 13, 2016, the "Rehoboth", 3901 ts (EU-No.: 02331616), ran aground on the Mosel near Hatzenport, sailing downstream. The river was barred for traffic on Apr 14 at 1.30 p.m. after an attempt had failed to pull the ship off with another barge and a tug. During this manoever, the ship, which was loaded with 3000 tons malt, had started tilting and came perpendicular to the fairway. At 8 p.m. another salvage attempt by the German tug "Rheinland" (MMSI-No.: 211510040), which was called from Mainz, was planned. Also on scene were the Dutch dredger "Gouwzee" (MMSI-No.: 244750553), the German pusher tug Nashorn (MMSI-No.: 211667020) and the "Eltz" (MMSI-No.: 211667010). The ship was refloated at 9.45 p.m. and moved to Koblenz, where it berthed on Apr 15 at 10.30 a.m. before continuing to Nijmegen the same afternoon and arriving there on Apr 19. Grounding on the Rhine
On June 15, 2015, at 10.20 p.m. the "Rehoboth" ran aground on the Rhine at river km 350,8 at Auer Grund. The ship which was loaded with 3.260 tons corn was sailing downstream enroute to Colonia when it got stuck on the right river shore due to a technical malfunction. The ship was prohibited to try to refloat with own power or to continue sailing. Ship traffic was banned from overtaking at the grounding site. In the afternoon of June 16 the ship could be pulled off and berthed in Mannheim at 4 p.m. The police Karlsruhe launched an investigation.
