Medevac off Fécamphad
On Feb 4, 2014 at 09:45 a.m. the CROSS Jobourg was informed that a Belgian crew member of the "Rubens", which was about 25 nautical miles off Fécamphad, had suffered a head injury. The CROSS Joburg organized a conference call with the Centre for Maritime Medical Consultation in Toulouse and the medical coordination center of Le Havre. After after evaluation the extent of the injury, a medical evacuation by helicopter was decided. The CROSS Joburg mobilized a Dragon 76 helicopter with a medical team of the SMUR Maritime in Havre on board which arrived in the area at 11:00 a.m. The hoisting of the medical team and of the fisherman were made in difficult weather conditions with SSW winds of 30 knots. At noon the victim was transferred to the hospital Jacques Monod in Le Havre.
