Ferry stalled off Holmestrand

On Sep 27, 2016, the "Kalkøy" suffered engine problems and was docked in Holmestrand. At 1 p.m. the engine stalled just off the wharf in Holmestrand after she had arrived from Langøya. A tug was called to push the ferry to the quay. A tug was called to push the ferry to the quay. Since 4 p.m. the St. Vincent-Grenadines flagged tug "Boa Sund" (IMO: 7500798) took the disabled ferry alongside and pushed her over back and forth over the fjord since while troubleshooting was going on. Allision with barge

On June 23, 2016, at 11.30 a.m. the "Kalkøy" was in allision with a barge that was moored at Langøya. One woman suffered bruises. She was on deck and fell due to the impact. After a medical check she could drive home on her own. The "Kalkøy" docked in Holmestrand for inspections of the police which interrogated the captain who was suspected of having caused the accident. The questioning was continued in Holmestrand. The police took routine samples and also questioned other witnesses. There was no suspicion of alcohol or other drugs consumption. . There was no date when the "Kalkøy" wold return to service. The ferry headed to Horten, where she will be surveyed. First the passenger Ferry "Hørte" was called, but in the run of the day a bigger replacement ferry was called from Drammen and inserted at 7.30 p.m. The barge was loaded with 25% ferrous sulfuric acid from Kronos Titan. Crews from Buksér og Berging and Veritas, boarded the barge in the afternoon to get an overview of the damage. The barge suffered a dent in the hull well above the surface, and there as no danger of leaks or spills. She was now to be unloaded so that there was no danger of contamination. The "Tysne" suffered a breakdown of its steering engnie and had to cancel its service on the route Kinsarvik – Utne – Kvanndal on Dec 1, 2010. As the technical problems could not be solved yet, the ferry remained out of service on Dec 2, leaving the service from Kinsarvik to Utne/Kvanndal without a ship. Travellers meanwhile have to take connections via Odda and Bruravik/Brimnes.
