Grounding at Evansville
The "Martha Denton" ran aground on the Ohio River at Evansville, Indiana, on July 31, 2014. The tug was attempting to make the turn in the river when windy conditions cause the towboat and its barges to run onto the riverbank near the Dress Placa. The pilot had made the decision to go into the bank instead of going into a nearby casino boat. An hour later, the "Martha Denton" and barges were refloated. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution. The "Martha Denton" continued its voyage downbound on the Ohio with its 15 barges.
