Medevac on the Weser

An injured crew member was medevaced from the "Marit Maersk" in the night of Feb 9, 2022. The man suffered a severe cut while the ship was approaching the Eurogate at the Strom Quay in Bremerhaven en route from Gdanks. After consultation with the master, the VTS and the MRCC, the medevac of the injured person was decided. Due to the ship traffic in the area, the "Marit Maersk" had to reduce its speed on the way to port, so that the transport with the lifeboat 'Theo Fischer' of the DGzRS station Bremerhaven would be much faster. The 25-year-old Indian sea farer was at risk of losing a finger without prompt surgical treatment. It took the lifeboat more than one hour in winds of six Beaufort from westsouthwest and a swell of ​​about one meter to reach the "Marit Maersk". On site, the lifeboat alongside the container ship for the transfer. The injured person was taken ti Bremerhaven, where he was handed over to an ambulance for transport to the hospital.
