Bunker tanker caused small fuel spill in Kiel

Wed May 14 20:40:48 CEST 2025 Timsen

On May 14, 2025, at 2.36 p.m. a fuel spill occurred during cargo operations of the 'Maria Deymann' at the Bominflot Bunker Station in Kiel- Wik. The tank barge had just arrived in Kiel from the Brunsbüttel oil port with fresh fuel at around 1 p.m. Immediately after the spill occurred, the bunker station staff initiated measures to contain the oil film. The Kiel Fire Department also arrived on site and assessed the extent of the spill .In coordination with the police and the environmental agency, no action was taken to combat the spill, as only a few liters of oil and a very thin film of oil on the water were involved. The amount was ultimately so small that the use of special wipes on the water surface was sufficient. The so-called sorbent wipes act like blotting paper and absorb the oil floating on the water. No oil booms were required. The water police filed a complaint for water pollution. Ship traffic on the waterway was not affected.

Tank barge aground off Harlingen

Sat Jun 15 18:52:34 CEST 2013 Timsen

In the night of Jan 15, 2013, the "Elize V", coming from Lelystad, got out of the fairway and ran aground on a sandbar in the Boontjes off the port of Harlingen with 1800 tons gas oil on board. The ship could be refloated at 1.15 p.m. after the bunker tanker "Jacqueline" had come alongside and pumped off gas oil. Also Rijkwaterstraat and the salvage company BSDS from Harlingen were involved. As a precaution oil booms were laid out around the tanker. Winds on Scene were 7-8 beaufort. After the salvage, the ship proceeded to Harlingen for surveys and docked at 1.45 p.m. Dutch reports with photos and video: http://www.telegraaf.nl/binnenland/21653359/__Tankschip_vast_in_vaargeul__.html http://www.scannernet.nl/nieuws-uit-harlingen-en-omstreken/actueel-nieuws/911-vastgelopen-tanker-harlingen-vlotgetrokken-fotos-video.html http://www.transport-online.nl/site/nieuws-zeevracht/index.php?news=1000681#.Ubydx8jwDIU http://www.lc.nl/friesland/regio/article15988343.ece/Vastgelopen-schip-weer-los-
