Maria wreakage recovered
On Sep 20, 2014, the salvage of the "Maria" was completed. The vessel sank in the early morning of Oct 7, 2013 after a collision, about 20 miles west of Callantsoog. After the necessary preparations this summer a first attempt was carried out in which the ship unfortunately broke into two pieces as the ship had been weakened by the collision more than expected. Earlier this week, the "HEBO-Cat 15" with a team of experienced divers of Benelux Diving on board sailed to the sinking site. During the week they attached slings in around 29 meters depth. On Sep 19 the floating crane "Matador 3" of Bonn and Mees started to hoist the ship sections which were deposited on the barge "HEBO P 39" which had been taken to the sinkinig site by the "Catharina 11". The wreckage was then taken to Rotterdam.
