Man who fell over board rescued by water taxi
The crew of a water taxi rescued a man from the water who had fallen overboard from the 'Marco Polo' in the morning of Nov 29, 2023, which was sailing on the Nieuwe Maas near the Schaardike in Rotterdam at that time. At around 9.50 a.m. the police received a report that a person had fallen into the water. The water taxis were also alerted, because they are small and manoeuvrable. With the help of the water taxi, the drowning person could be removed from the ice-cold water. He had been in the water for several minutes at that time. It is still unknown why he fell overboard. The man was taken to hospital for further checks.
