Collision off Oostende

Wed Sep 21 09:48:06 CEST 2016 Timsen

On Sep 21, 2016 at 7 a.m. the loaded "Maistros" was in collision with the "Ridgebury Kathrine Z" about 30 kilometers off Oostende. None of the altogether 50 crew members were injured. The latter ship was unloaded and moored in the anchoring area of Westhinder for order when it was hit by the loaded "Maistros" which was underway from Asuleyh to Antwerp. There was only material damage, but no outflow of oil or immediate danger of sinking. The MRCC sent three boats and a surveilance aircraft in order to detect any oil pollution. Damage assessment was going on with the patrol boat "SPN 15" (MMSI: 205387690) attending the "Rigdebury Kathrine Z". She was expected to be released on Sep 22. The "Maistros" meanwhile headed to Antwerp and approached port at 7 p.m. towed by the port tugs "Tug 40" and "Tug 43". It berthed at the ATPC Antwerp Terminal in basin 4. It had suffered slight damage at the starboard side bow above the water line.
