Fire on board, Aegean sea

General cargo vessel Cedit 4 reported fire on board in engine room, then spreading beyond the engine room, at 21:20 LT Dec 19 12, in position south off Bozcaada, Aegean sea. Canakkale Traffic Service immediately sent to the distressed vessel rescue boats and tugs. By 00:30 Dec 20 tugs and rescue boats were on the scene. It is understood that the crew was evacuated, but captain stayed on board. Fire was put under control by 07:30 Dec 20. No casualities and no pollution reported. Vessel was in ballast. Turkish freighter Cedit 4 suffered engine failure on April 23 2012 in Black sea en route from Kherson, Ukraine, to Samsun, Turkey. Details unknown, at 1200 UTC April 24 vessel was limping at 1 knot speed near Sevastopol, Crimea. Later vessel either anchored, or started to drift, in position 45 08.44N 032 49.59E.
