Patient transferred to Shah Clinic and stabilized

Thu Apr 07 11:22:48 CEST 2016 Timsen

On Apr 7, 2016, the Indian Coast Guard evacuated an injured crew member of the "Goa" off Mumbai. The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre Mumbai received a telephonic message at 7.27 p.m. on Apr 6 from the master of the Shipping Corporation of India vessel seeking immediate medical evacuation of Binood Kumar Kumar, fourth engineer of the vessel, who was bleeding from ear and hand with first degree burn on right wrist and blisters as he got struck in pantry bulkhead. The vessel was about 22 miles north-west of Mumbai then. Considering the patient's condition, the patrol boat "Agrim", which was on patrol off Mumbai, was dispatched to provide assistance and medevac the patient. He was brought to Mumbai harbour and was handed over to the civil boat Arbas at about 02.40 a.m. for hospitalisation. The MRCC Mumbai coordinated the mission, giving update to the ship as well as arrangements ashore through the ship's agents. The patient was later transferred to the Shah clinic in Marine Lines here for further medical care and his condition was now stable.
