Tug caused oil spill in Eckernförde

Fri Jul 06 10:05:24 CEST 2012 Timsen

On July 5, 2012, the "Lütje Hörn" caused an oil spill in the port of Eckernfoerde. 50-100 litres oil leaked out of a fuel line when oil was being pumped between two tanks. The fire brigade of the Navy Base was first to respnd. Later the THW and the local fire brigade were alarmed and tackled the spill with 32 men and 10 engines. An oil boom of 200 metres length was laid out and parts of the beach of Eckernförde had to be barred for the public temporarily.
