Storoe breached by ice flow in the Baltic Sea

Mon Feb 04 09:49:22 CET 2013 Timsen

On Feb 1, 2012, the "Storoe" which had sailed from Pärnu on Jan 30 bound for Papenburg, was in collision with an ice flow in the Baltic Sea. A tank was breached, and the ship lost about 20 litres heavy fuel. The ship was ordered to enter the port of Rostock and docked at berth 8 at 6 p.m. The ship was surrounded with an oil boom. It departed from Rostock on Feb 4 at 11.30 p.m. and resumed its voyage. Photos: http://forum-schiff.de/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1555

Storoe in embankment

Wed Nov 09 12:48:26 CET 2011 Timsen

Enroute Helsingborg-Pasajes the "Storoe" ran into the south side of the embankment of the Kiel Canal on Nov 8, 2011, at 2.10 p.m. between the ferry point Breiholz and Meckelmoor. The ship was able to refloat with own power and moored in Brunsbuettel at 20.20 p.m. After surveys were completed, the ship resumed its westbound passage around midnight. The cause of the accident was said to have been a rudder failure, but also human mistake may have contributed to it.
