Vessel overloaded in Brunsbüttel

Thu Jan 30 21:41:13 CET 2020 Timsen

On Jan 30, 2020, at 9.20 a.m. the 'Lina', enroute from St. Petersburg to Leixoes, was subject of a control of the water police Brunsbüttel upon entering the Northern lock towards the Elbe. The officers found out that the ship was overloaded. It was carrying 5.000 tons 5000 tons of carbon steel shavings and was overloaded by 170 tons. At 11.15 a.m. it backed out of the lock again and was moored at the railway station pilings in the canal port of Brunsbüttel where it was detained until the overload has been removed. The vessel berthed in the Elbe Port in Brunsbüttel on Feb 2 at midnight in order to remove the overload and get the draught corrected. The ship finally sailed on Feb 3 at 2.30 p.m. after the excessive cargo had been unloaded. It was due to arrive in Leixoes on Feb 8 at 11 p.m. now. An investigation was launched against the master, and he had to pay a safety deposit of 5.100 Euros.
