Mon Jun 27 11:29:52 CEST 2011 Timsen

On its way from Ijmuiden to Halmstad the cargo m/v "Frank W" (IMO-No.: 9374674), collided with the "Lilly - E2" in the morning of June 26, 2011, at 7.44 a.m. approx. 9 miles east of Skagen. The "Lilly" took in water was already low in the water when a a pilot boat from Skagen which was half a mile away reached the site. The crew of 2 of the "Lilly" which was based in Esbjerg was safely evacuated by the boat at 7.50 a.m., and at 8.20 a.m. their ship sank. The Danish rescue center had alerted the Skagen Rescue Station who immediately sent the rescue vessels "Lars Kruse" and "LRB-10" to the site with dewatering equipment but which could not be on scene in time due to rough seas. In agreement with Søfartsstyrelsen and North Jutland Police the "Frank W" was permitted to continue to Halmstad, where she will have to undergo surveys. The cause of the collision, which happened in broad daylight, is still unknown.
