Russian tanker allided with Volga bridge

The 'Lenaneft 2029', en route from from Tatarstan to Yaroslavl, allided with a railway bridgei on the Kostroma-Novaya - Karimovo section of the Volga at river kilometr 601 in Kostroma on the early morning of Sep 12, 2024, and got stuck underneath. There were no casualties nor oil spills as a result of the incident, Rail traffic was not disrupted. An inspection has been organized in connection with the incident on the Volga River by the Kostroma Transport Prosecutor. The Transport Prosecutor's Office will check all the circumstances, compliance with the legislation on navigation safety during the operation of water transport, and will assess the actions of the responsible persons. The wheelhouse of the tanker was crushed and deck structures were demolished. The ship of the Volga-Trans LLC from Samara was ballasting along the Samara-Yaroslavl route. It has since been pulled out under the bridge and left at anchor near the scene of the incident.
