Fish carrier rescued three crew members of distressed yacht

Fri Jul 28 11:03:13 CEST 2017 Timsen

The HRS South Norway was alerted on July 28, 2017, at 12.30 a.m. after a 30-ft-sailing yacht with a crew of three had run aground at Bremangerlandet while enroute to Bergen, and reported water ingress. A Sea King-helicopter was deployed from Florø to take the crew off, but could be stood down after the "Langsund" which had sailed from Florø at 1.45 p.m. on July 17 reported that she had already assisted and taken on board the seafarers from a dinghy. The ship berthed in Eggesbønes at 7 a.m. The lifeboat "Halvdan Grieg" also attended and in tried to recover the yacht which finally sank in a water depth of 12 meters. Dramatic rescue mission at Hustadvika

Mon Mar 10 11:00:13 CET 2014 Timsen

In the evening of Mar 9, 2014, the "Fjellmøy" was involved in a rescue mission for the "Langsund" at Hustadvika in Møre og Romsdal. The fish carrier with a crew of four on board had lost engine power in strong winds and was drifting only 400 meters from the shore at Kobbeskjæret near Orta when the trawler from Måløy arrived at 11.30 p.m. A small lifeboat and other craft were also on scene, and before the arrival of the "Fjellmøy", the "Havtind" in vain had tried to connect to the drifting "Langsund". Fortunately they succeeded to get a rope aboard the fish carrier in the first attempt and started to pull it southwards together with the lifeboat in the early morning of Mar 10.
