Patrol boat listed in dock

Mon Jun 10 18:55:19 CEST 2019 Timsen

On June 9, 2019, the "Barentshav" developed a list of six-seven degrees to port side in a floating dock at Vegsund Slip in Sula. The police was notified at 2.23 p.m. When the emergency services arrived, the crew was evacuated from board. At 2.40 p.m. most of the 30 people were ashore. The lifeboat "DNV II" was called to assist too. The Ålesund fire department and the Sula fire department were on scene around 3 p.m. as well.Just before 4 p.m. the police confirm that everyone was evacuated and accounted for. On June 10 specialists started to find out how the list can be corrected. Shipyard persoonnel and insurance companies started an inspection. It was believed that the hydraulic supports inside the dock had failed on the starboard side. The Armed Forces who chartered the ship from the Remøy Management in Fosnavåg was now investigating whether the ship was water tight or whether there were openings in the hull. On June 10 Remøy had completed inspections inside the ship and found it stabilized. The ship, which on a regular patrol has a crew of about 18 people, both military and civilians, arrived at Vegsund Slip on June 3 in connection with maintenance works. Thu Jun 21 21:31:33 CEST 2012 Timsen

On June 19, 2012, the Port of Hamburg has for the first time been able to welcome an LNG-fuelled ship, the "Barentshav" which belongs to the Norwegian Coastguard fleet, and is deployed on fisheries controls, sea rescue, policing, Customs inspections and environmental checks within Norwegian territorial waters. The occasion for the ship’s visit between 19 and 21 June 2012 was the “LNG – the Norwegian Experience” conference of experts organized in Hamburg by the German-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce along with Innovation Norway and the classification society DNV Germany.

Barentshav heading for repair yard

Thu Dec 08 21:05:58 CET 2011 Timsen

After the "Barentshav" was docked in Harstad, investigationa started Dec 8 morning. The lifeboat "Skomvær III" was alongside for this purpose. Noth Norwegian Maritime Directorate and the Norwegian Veritas were on board. The divers found three holes in the ballast tanks and other hull damage. After surveys were finished, the "Barentshav" headed to Svolvaer with its own power for repairs in drydock. It was yet difficult to estimate how long repairs will take, but it could take a few weeks. The cause of the grounding was still unknown, but it occurred in connection with an assignment. The vessel had been requested to check out what was described as a strange light in the sea off Andenes. It turned out to be an LED light being used for the fishermen to find their farm.
