Abandoned yacht under tow by Knickerbocker

Wed May 01 20:50:15 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Knickerbocker" on its way to Bermuda found an abandoned 55ft sailing yacht and started towing it to the island on April 25, 2019. At 2:15 p.m. Bermuda Radio received at satellite telephone call from the sailing vessel advising that they have found an abandoned 55ft sailing yacht, and have taken it in tow. It was the same abandoned yacht which was reported to Bermuda Radio on April 3 by the "Atlantic Explorer". The US Coast Guard was aware of the vessel from a previous incident they handled, and intended to inform the owners that the yacht was being towed to Bermuda, with an ETA of late night of May 3 or the early hours of May 4.
