175 passengers taken off grounded ferry
Personnel from the Bangka Belitung Islands Regional Police Directorate and the Joint Search and Rescue Team succeeded in evacuating the passengers of the 'Star Belitung', after the ferry had run aground in the mouth of the Baturusa River in the morning of Aug 8, 2023. The patrol boats 3001, 2004, the rubber boats KP.3017, RIB and the KN 'Damaru' were deployed to disembark a total of 175 people, consisting of elderly passengers, adults and children.
