Allision in Taichung

The 'Splendor Taipei' allided with the quay while unmooring at the port of Taichung in the night of Nov 10, 2020, in stormy weather conditions. The bow was seriously damaged above and underneath the water line, including a breach and ensuing water ingress. The ship, which had arrived on port on Nov 9 at 5 p.m., got assistance by tugs and was later shifted to another berth for investigations and repairs. Also the quay suffered significant damages.

Orient King saved one survivor of ferry sinking

After the Philippine ferry "Maharlika 2" encountered engine trouble and sank while bound for Lipata, Surigao from Liloan Ferry Terminal in Southern Leyte on Sep 13, 2014, the "Orient King" was among five vessels which immediately conducted search and rescue operations in the area. The "Epic St. Martin" rescued 54 persons and retrieved two bodies, the ferry "Maharlika 4" rescued 34, the "Lara Venture" rescued 19, and the "Orient King" rescued one person and retrieved one body. 13 of the rescued were brought to Caraga Regional Hospital in Surigao for immediate medical treatment.
