Grounding in Bocas de Ceniza

Mon Apr 06 19:28:23 CEST 2020 Timsen

The 'KM London', which had sailed from the COMPAS terminal in Barranquilla on April 5, 2020, ran aground in Bocas de Ceniza in the mouth of the Magdalena River, Barranquilla, at 1.50 p.m. enroute to Paradip. The ship was refloated in 40 minutes with the help of three tugs, the Coastguard and a pilot, and dropped anchor in pos. 11° 5.82' N 074° 55.35' W off Bocas de Ceniza around 6 p.m. for investigations. The accident did not affect the marine environment or the traffic at the Barranquilla port terminal.

Repairs until end of the month

Thu Jan 25 19:04:08 CET 2018 Timsen

The "KM London" remained alongside in Longview and was undergoing final internal repairs in BW Tank No.1 starboard and fore peak. The estimated time for completion was Jan 29, and the bulkcarrier will then proceed to a discharge port in Japan and for repair to dry-dock in Asia.

Damaged bulkcarrier still held at Longview Terminals

Wed Dec 20 11:46:46 CET 2017 Timsen

On Dec 20 the "KM London" remained moored at berth 7 at the Port of Longview under Coast Guard orders not to leave following the grounding near Stella. A report on the condition of the vessel was not available on Dec 18 from the Coast Guard or its agent, Transmarine Navigation. The Transmarine company no longer has any involvement in the matter. The vessel sustained at least some damage because the grounding caused water to leak into bow. An investigation into the grounding was continuing, and the Coast Guard agency in Astoria had no timeline for completing its investigation or lifting is "Order of the Port" hold on the ship.
