The Kolkata Port Trust has suspended ship movements to and from Kolkata Dock System. Following the suspension, two container vessels, the "Pac Natuna" and "Mondena", which had left earlier in the day, returned to the KDS berths, on Dec 6. The suspension followed after the grounded cargo m/v "Tiger Spring" was drifting in high tides and coming closer to the navigable channel. The sudden drifting of the vessel towards the channel foreced the Port authorities, forcing them to stop ship movements to prevent another potential disaster. The suspension of inward movement of vessels is followed a sudden rush of the mud in the river choking the channel on the western side of the river, so much so that the Port authorities have been forced to declare a draught reduction to 5.4 metres against the earlier draught of 6.5 metres
