Tue Feb 04 10:57:38 CET 2025 Timsen

Fearing an earthquake, more and more residents and tourists want to leave the island of Santorini, which is why existing ferry connections are fully booked. The company Blue Star Ferries announced that it supports the local communities with consistency and responsibility. As a result, the "Kissamos" coming from Crete and the ferry "Bluestar Patmos" from Rhodes were diverted on the night of Feb 3, 2025, with an additional stop in Santorini. Mon Jan 08 18:07:47 CET 2024 Timsen

In the evening of Jan 7, 2024, the Port Authority of Heraklion was informed by the Master of the 'Blue Galaxy' that the ferry had suffered a damage to the locking pin of the starboard side aft ramp ahead of the departure for the port of Piraeus. On board were 571 passengers and 82 crew members. The Central Port Authority initially prohibited the ship's departure, while after the damage was repaired and a seaworthiness certificate was presented by the classification society that monitors it, it was allowed to depart for the port of Piraeus.

The 'Blue Galaxy' with 506 passengers and 100 crew members on board suffered a mechanical failure on July 27, 2023, just outside the port of Piraeus, short time after it had departed to serve the route Samos-Kos-Rhodes. Due to the breakdown, the assistance of two tugs was requested, and it returned to Piraeus. The ship was banned from sailing until repairs were completed, and finally was able to leave the port again on July 28 at 12.50 a.m. Report with video: https://www.protothema.gr/greece/article/1396848/peiraias-talaiporia-gia-606-epivainodes-sto-blue-galaxy-logo-mihanikis-vlavis-deite-video/
