Bulkcarrier disabled off La Romaine

Wed Oct 30 10:06:57 CET 2019 Timsen

The 'Federal Rideau' was disabled 20 miles South of La Romaine, Quebec, on Oct 26, 2019. The ship had sailed from Montreal on Oct 24 and was bound to Lisbon. The crew carried out repairs, and the vessel resumed its voyage with an ETA as of Nov 3.

Ship slammed into arrester

Tue Jul 24 19:07:57 CEST 2018 Timsen

An engine issue caused the "Federal Rideau" on July 22, 2018, to hit a ship arrester in the flight locks in the Welland Canal. She couldn't slow as quickly as it would have otherwise when entering Lock 5 East and contacted the ship arrester which kept the ship in place. The arrester had to be replaced after the incident. Other ships were delayed as the vessel had to be inspected before being authorized to move through the canal.

Bulkcarrier refloated

Wed Jul 30 10:06:29 CEST 2014 Timsen

The "Federal Rideau" was refloated by five tugs in the early morning of July 29 and was safely anchored in the Detroit River at the Belle Island Anchorage. Divers were scheduled to conduct a damage assessment survey of the vessel, and repairs would be made if necessary. There was no resultant pollution and no injuries were reported. Coast Guard marine inspectors from Coast Guard Sector Detroit Prevention Department responded to the grounding to assess the situation and determine the extent of any structural damage to the vessel. Coordinators at the Sector Detroit Command Center were in constant communication with the vessel’s crew and with responders aboard the ship. The cause of the grounding was determined to have been a loss of steering.
