Ferry saved crew of sinking yacht

The sailing from Auckland to Waiheke of the 'Kekeno' in the afternoon oof Dec 23, 2020, was held up for around 45 minutes while the ferry, when to the aid of a luxury yacht taking on water in the Waitematā harbour off St. Heliers Beach. The ferry was alerted by Coastguard to a distress call from a boat with two crew members on board. The 'Kekeno' was first to arrive on the scene. Our crew responded immediately by launching a rescue boat, to safely retrieve the two from their sinking vessel. Once rescued, both were transferred to the Police boat that arrived on scene shortly after- Around 2.05 p.m, the 'Kekeno' was able to get back underway, arriving into Mātiatia around 2.30 p.m. Report with photo: http://www.waihekegulfnews.co.nz/stricken-launch-disrupts-ferry-sailing/
