Eight bodies found off Lesbos

Tue Apr 25 10:37:37 CEST 2017 Timsen

Since the night of Apr 24, 2017, crews aboard the "KBV 476" and "KBV 477" have participated in a rescue mission off Lesbos. At midnight, Swedish time, the crew aboard the "KBV 476" was alerted to an accident involving a migrant boat north of Lesbos. After receiving an assigned search area, the crew worked intensively throughout the night looking for survivors but without results. At 8 a.m., the "KBV 476" was released by the "KBV 477" which continued the search. At 10 a.m. the "KBV 477" discovered six perished migrants in the water on the north side of the island. In cooperation with volunteers, the bodies were transported quickly to the port of Petra by the boat. Then the "KBV 477" returned to the site and found two more bodies who were also taken ashore. The search for missing migrants continued.
