Sanctioned ship to be inspected
The sanctioned 'Kapitan Yakovlev' has set course for Svalbard with an ETA in Barentsburg as of Sep 11, 2025. A normal, standard inspection will probably be carried out by customs and police, when it enters the territorial waters. The ship is sanctioned by the US and Ukraine because it is said to have transported weapons for Russia. It was not known what kind of cargo is on board the 'Kapitan Yakovlev', but it was likely related to the coal mining operations of the Russian company Arktikugol.
