Grounding off Kilitbahir
The 'Kapitan Shyriagin' ran aground in the Dardanelles Strait near the village of Kilitbahir, while en route from Constanta to Bari, loaded with a cargo of corn, on March 11, 2022, at around 2.15 p.m. Coastal Safety directed the tugs 'Kurtarma 4' and 'Türkeli' as well as the lifeboat 'Kiyem 1' to the grounding site. The waterway was closed to maritime traffic while work is underway to refloat the vessel. On March 11 at around 8 a.m., it was pulled off and taken to an anchorage in pos. 40° 00.84' N 026° 15.53' E.
