12 injured in collision on Bosphorus

The 'Kamil Sayin' (MMSI: 271010610) was in collision with the cargo m/v 'Artvin' (IMO: 8917869), en route from Patras to Mangalia, on Sep 18, 2025, at 8.30 p.m. in the Bosphorus Strait. 12 people were injured in the incident, which occurred around the rush hournear Salacak, off the Uskudar district. Police, firefighters, and paramedics were dispatched to the scene. The lifeboats 'KEGM-3' and 'KEGM-4' from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure arrived at the scene. The passenger boat was safely docked at the Pasaliman Dock. and the passengers were evacuated.The injured were transported to nearby hospitals by ambulance. Both vessels were removed from the Bosphorus shipping lane. The cargo ship was towed to the Büyükdere anchorage, escorted by the 'KEGM-4' and a pilot, and moored in pos. 40° 59' N 028° 57' E by Coast Guard Security teams for damage assessments, while investigations into the cause of the accident have been launched. The 'Artvin' remained stationary as of Sep 23. The 'Kamil Sayin' was taken to Harem'e.
